Entry and visas
A visa is not required for a vacation
EU travelers need a passport for a stay of up to 90 days, which must be valid for at least 6 months upon entry.
Important information when entering the country by land
Anyone entering the country by bus or transfer must present a valid return or onward travel ticket. You also have to show enough financial resources for your stay in Panama. It used to be enough to show a credit card. Nowadays you have to provide proof of your account balance or credit limit. You have to have at least $500 per person.
When entering the country, care should be taken to ensure that the intended length of stay is noted by the Panamanian immigration authorities in the passport or on the entry slip (Tarjeta Internacional de Embarque/Desembarque) (which must always be filled out). The German child ID card must contain a photo.
Otherwise, it may happen that the immigration officials limit the residence permit in the passport to, for example, 30 days, although a stay of, for example, 45 days is planned.
Please always pay attention to your own passport, as losing it can cause problems and thorough research is essential before issuing a replacement document (among other things, a report of lost passport to the National Police is required for re-exit, so-called "denuncia"). Make a certified copy of your passport and keep it separately!
According to Panamanian regulations, you must always carry a valid passport with an entry stamp.
When departing by air, an airport tax of approximately 15 USD must be paid in cash at the airport.
