When we traveled and got to know South and Central America for the first time over thirty years ago, the fascination was so strong that we kept coming back and finally settled here.
The most important thing to plan a unique trip is a deep knowledge of the country, the people and their culture. Thanks to our long experience and many, many adventure trips of our own, we know Costa Rica and Panama like no other and have specially selected local contacts and friendships. This means we know destinations far off the beaten track and offer culturally typical local accommodation that guarantees an authentic experience and a high enjoyment factor. We always strive to create very individual travel routes with special destinations. We try to keep the distances necessary to explore such large countries as short as possible and include them in our travel descriptions.
We call this “authentic travel – alautentico” . It's like being expected at home, the table is set and everyone is happy to finally see you again.
Based on many years of personal experience in South and Central America, our unique adventure tours are characterized by authentic nature experiences. A direct experience of the original nature and its diversity is possible on adventurous expeditions, e.g. on safaris in a dugout canoe through the rainforest, hikes with local farmers through their tropical native forest and tours with excellent nature guides through the numerous protected areas.
Personal contact with the local population enables a deeper understanding of the country and its people. You learn more about local habits, culture, economy and social interaction.
Culinary enjoyment when discovering and tasting regional specialties under the motto “from the origin to the plate”; e.g. tour of the production and tasting of rum, cocoa, coffee, cheese and much more
The experience can be visually and kinesthetically intensified by practicing your preferred sports, such as trekking, mountaineering, horse riding, kayaking, diving or sailing in the midst of paradisiacal nature. It is also possible to relax in natural wellness oases (hot springs) and pamper yourself with indigenous massage techniques. This enables enjoyment with all the senses!

About Us:
During one of his many extensive trips during his studies in Venezuela, Volker found and married the woman of his life. He has been living in Latin America for over thirty years and is at home there, not least because of his many friends and family. His Posada in Santa Ana, Costa Rica is probably the best-known insider tip and meeting place for travelers. Volker and his friends know the most beautiful places and the best places in Costa Rica, Panama and all of Latin America and are happy to take our travelers there. At home you just know your way around. Volker also writes travel guides - the books Stefan Loose and Dumont from Costa Rica, as well as travel know-how from Panama, Guatemala and Venezuela come from his pen. Because of this responsibility, he has to travel a lot, try out a lot, get to know a lot and constantly try out new routes and tours.
Minerva is Volker's wife and mother of their children Nataly and Sebastian. She takes care of our two Posada Nena in Santa Ana and Puerto Viejo, our guests, catering and a lot of what goes on in the background. She accompanies us on many research trips and maintains contact with the many people we meet on our travels. She is also responsible for decorating the posadas - a job that she does excellently, as every visitor immediately notices.
Rosiris , Minerva's sister, has been supporting us with her organizational talent for over 29 years. She is the permanent contact person on site in Costa Rica, takes care of reservations, tickets and maintains contacts with our partners. She is also the good soul at Posada Nena in the Central Valley, where you can also meet her in person.
Nalani , supported us as part of her tourism studies for half a year on site until September 22nd - during this time she got to know the whole country intensively. Since then she has continued to provide advice to our guests. During her stay she traveled to many secret corners of the country and was captivated by the beauty and warmth of Costa Rica. She helps plan and organize trips in Costa Rica and is an advisor and thought leader for the trip.
Finn , is currently spending his internship semester with us as part of his tourism management studies. Even after his work on site has ended and his upcoming return to Germany, he will continue to be with us from Germany. From day one he fell in love with beautiful Costa Rica and its diverse nature. He advises and creates trips so that our guests can fall in love with Costa Rica like he did himself.
Carmen is our alautentico specialist for Nicaragua. In 2002, she fell in love with the continent on her first trip to Latin America and found her true love in Nicaragua. She lives in León, in the north of Nicaragua, and has found good and dear friends there and throughout the country. She gained deeper insights into the culture and society of Nicaragua when she repeatedly got involved in various aid projects as a trained educator. Through her work in tourism, she has gotten to know and love the whole country, knows insider tips and has good connections.
