The Bahia Drake Pirate Bay
The exotic west coast of the Osa Peninsula
Drake Bay can be reached via a rather complicated route
The only notable location is Drakes Bay , named after the famous pirate " Sir Francis Drake ", who (allegedly) buried several chests of his treasure here. There is no real town center in Drakes Bay, the houses and posadas are spread out along the beach and into the hinterland.
Drakes Bay has daily flights to Nature Air , and Bahia Drake can also be reached overland by four-wheel drive vehicle.
Another interesting way to reach Drakes Bay is by boat from Sierpe:
The boat trip is a very exciting affair. It takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes to Drakes Bay. You first sail on the mangrove-lined waters of the Rio Sierpe, which soon flows into the Pacific Ocean. The meeting of the river and the open sea is a very interesting spectacle; the captain has the chance to demonstrate his skills.
For accommodation, we recommend Michael's Mirador Lodge or the Caletas Lodge directly on the beach.
