Chirripó National Park

Cordillera de Talamanca, altitude from 1000 m to 3820 (Cerro Chirripó).

The Chrirripo National Park borders on the international national park " La Amistad " and together with it forms the largest contiguous protected area in Costa Rica and Panama.

At an average elevation of 1600 m, Chirripó National Park is located in the east central valley and contains the highest peak in Costa Rica - Cerro Chirripó . Cerro Chirripó has a height of 3820 m.

Der Cerro Chirripochirripo mountain The starting point for trekking tours to the Cerró Chirripo is the town of San Gerardo de Rivas, which can be reached by bus or car via Pérez Zeledón.

Only those who have tickets can take care of the hut, food and, if necessary, porters. A maximum of 52 people are allowed in the hut per day, which is not a lot as Cerro Chirripó is internationally known as an exciting trekking destination. To climb Cerro Chirripó it is necessary to take care of getting the entrance tickets in good time. For the high season, between November and the end of April, you need around 5-6 months lead time. You have to buy the tickets yourself in Spanish at https://serviciosenlinea.sinac.go.cr/ . To do this, go to “Registrarse” and open an account. You can then choose the date, the number of days you want to spend upstairs (we recommend two) and pay by credit card. If you can't do this, you can contact us and we will help you with the purchase.

Then we can put together a package including overnight stays and tickets.

Many endemic plant species are protected in the national park; the jungle shows a typical transitional forest between tropical cloud forest and high forests extending beyond the tree line. Numerous mountains, large rivers and high waterfalls are located in the attractive landscape.
