All hotels, posadas and lodges listed here are listed here for very specific reasons. But the reasons are varied. There are simple and extremely luxurious tips, but they all share one characteristic: environmental protection and the personal commitment of the operators.
When traveling to Costa Rica, you should think carefully about where you will stay. The country offers many fantastic accommodation options that allow you to get really close to the real Costa Rica. We make no claim to completeness, but due to our work as a travel agency and travel book author we are constantly on the move and looking for the best places. That's why we offer some excellent options here that really enrich a trip.
You will notice this very quickly when you visit the places we recommend. There are often large, idealistic projects behind them, always a lot of personal commitment with a lot of attention to detail.
However, there are so many (good) accommodation options in Costa Rica that we do not claim to be exhaustive here. If you have a special request and want to book accommodation that is not listed here, we will of course be happy to take care of that and visit this “tip” on our next research trip.
