The Lapa Rios Lodge is the number one of the noble-lodges inside the rainforest of the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica. The lodge was created in complete harmony with the environment, the rainforest and the beaches.
There are only 16 private bungalows, each surrounded by rainforest and with a good distance to each other. The main house, with a restaurant and a fantastic view point over the tops of giant trees, is located about 30 feet above the coast. In Costa Rica the rare scarlet macaws is called Lapa. The Lodge was named after them, because they are seen often around here.
Everything is ecologically: Energy, laundry, waste water treatment, even the staff. A variety of wooded trails-guided tours through the rainforest are offered. It is also advisable to undertake an expedition from the Lapa Rios Lodge to Corcovado National Park.
