Santa Ana, near San José
You want to escape from the hustle and bustle of San Jose?
better to go a little west to Sta. Ana (29,000 inhabitants).
The best restaurants in the country are located there, the climate is drier than the rest of the country (Sta. Ana was elected as the city with the 5th world's best climate), and it can be reached easily and quickly. San José and the International Airport Juan Santamaria are only about 15 minutes away.
Sta. Ana, founded in 1907, is a mature town with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, where tradition and modernity are suitably connected together. The countryside is green and hardly developed, you will have the opportunity to take long walks and quite rides. An example is the famous Catarata de Brasil. Here you find the famous cerros de Escazu, a gerat area for hiking and walking in nature.
Although Sta. Ana is growing strongly, there are still many old surviving traditions preserved. The old town center unites artists and crafts, next to the church you can find a ceramic workshop.
And of course you will also find in Santa Ana a 18-hole Golf Course, and an installation with 6 tennis courts. A few meters up the hill towards Puriscal, the Pacific can be seen on a clear day.
In Santa Ana, we recommend as a base station for your Costa Rica travel the friendly Hotel “Posada Nena”.
