Puerto viejo de Talamanca
Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is a small coastal town in the canton of Talamanca, in southeastern Costa Rica. Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is referred simply as Puerto Viejo, but you have to be careful because other people may confuse it with Puerto Viejo de Saripiqui. Puerto Viejo is a very popular destination for backpackers, known for its great beaches, good waves and loud reggae music.
But for travelers with bigger claims, Puerto Viejo still offers enough. The best beaches are found to the south of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, towards Manzanillo. We especially recommed the golden Playa Cocles and Punta Uva.
At Playa Negra you will find infinite peace and with a little luck, you can even see wild horses. Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is the last stop in the international transit to Panama via the border crossing of Sixaola. To the end of Sixaola / Guabito (Panama), there are still nearly 50 km, the last decent accommodations and restaurants are in Puerto Viejo. We will take care of the international transfer, we pick you up at the hotel in Puerto Viejo and organize the trip to Panama (normally to the attractive island group "Bocas del Toro").
We recommend the Coco Loco Lodge in Puerto viejo
