The Rainforest of the Austrians
The 160 km ² Esquinas Rainforest is located on the South Pacific of Costa Rica. This rainforest is one of the last remaining lowland rainforest areas on the Pacific coast of Central America, here are the most biodiverse forests in the world.
On the edge of Esquina rainforest, there is a worldwide unique project launched by the Austrians.
Not too long ago, the nearly 160 square kilometers Esquinas rain forest in southwestern Costa Rica was in danger. This tropical paradise is one of the last remaining lowland forests on the Pacific coast of Central America and is extremely rich in species. On the forest, 180 tree species were counted, and 3,000 plant species grow here. 320 species of birds and rare animals such as jaguars, ocelots and four species of monkeys are found here.
The club founded in 1991 "Rainforest of the Austrians", dedicated since 1991 to the purchase of the Esquinas Rainforest. Acquired with the help of donations, it was given by the National Park Service of the Republic of Costa Rica, and incorporated into the Piedras Blancas National Park.
By visiting the really attractive "Esquinas Rainforest Lodge" you support directly the project. The room rates are between 80 and 95 € per person, depending on season and availability, and can be booked directly through us. Many expeditions and tours in the rainforest can be taken from here.
