This is not a hotel guide, only a small selection of specially recommended hotels and lodges on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Jacó, the closest beach to San Jose has its charms; in the famous Manuel Antonio National Park, there are still more monkeys than people.
And also the southern part of the Nicoya Peninsula, reached by ferry from Puntarenas, is part of the central Pacific coast. There we recommend to stay in the town of Montezuma or Tambor.
This simple, very well placed Copacabana Hotel & Suites with only 24 rooms on 2 floors, is located directly beside the wide sandy beach of Jacó. Although Jacó may not be exactly described as a dream beach, it has its charm. The beach is great for surfing and you can enjoy the sun and long walks on the beach.
This small and very familiar Hotel- Ranch is a great destination for families- but not only for them. Fidelito Ranch & Lodge is a tranquil retreat in the spectacular setting of the densely forested Tambor hills and the nearby Rio Panica. It offers pasture, sections of forest, small idyllic creeks, natural beauty scenery and two apartments.
Hotel la colina has only 13 rooms and a great pool on 2 levels and is located very close to the famous Manuel Antonio National Park. There is a good restaurant for breakfast and dinner, parking and WIFI.
La Ensenada National Wildlife Refuge is a great and peaceful place to relax and explore. It is surrounded by nature and mangroves, beautiful flowers and birds that will make you forget that you are not very far from civilization.
With a beautiful view all over the gulf of Nicoya, mangroves and Salinas, nature trails and cozy cabins all with a huge terrace overlooking the Gulf and surrounded by green areas and in the middle of the forest you will love la Ensenada.
The town Montezuma has transformed itself in recent years from a village dropouts and target for backpackers, to an attractive destination. The town still has its slightly alternative flair and you feel strange smells, but there are excellent restaurants and a good infrastructure.
In a prime location, right on the white sandy beach of Playa Grande de Montezuma, with direct access from the bungalow or restaurant the Ylang Ylang Resort is located. The clear Resort is accessible only by foot or by jeep over the beach. If you travel with your own car, you must leave your vehicle in the town (safe).
